Swimming
Low-impact full-body cardio using freestyle laps in a pool.
- Muscle group: Cardio
- Equipment: Bodyweight
- Difficulty: Intermediate
Also known as: Freestyle swimming, Front crawl, Lap swimming, Crawl, Banesvømning
How to do it
- Swim in a lifeguarded pool and start with a few easy lengths to loosen up.
- Keep your body long and flat, rotate from the hips and breathe out steadily into the water between breaths.
- Rest at the wall when needed and build up total distance gradually.
Common mistakes
- Lifting the head to breathe, which sinks the hips and drags you down.
- Holding your breath and swimming too fast, so you run out of air after a few strokes.
