Standing calf raise machine
A machine calf raise done with straight legs to load the large calf muscle.

How to do it
- Set the shoulder pads so you stand tall, with the balls of your feet on the platform and heels hanging off.
- Lower your heels slowly until you feel a good stretch in the calves.
- Rise as high onto your toes as you can, pause briefly at the top, then lower under control.
Common mistakes
- Bouncing at the bottom instead of using a controlled stretch.
- Bending the knees to cheat the weight up.
