How to do it
- Stand with the balls of your feet on a low plate or step under the bar, with the bar across your upper back.
- Unhook the bar and lower your heels for a gentle stretch in the calves.
- Rise up high onto your toes, pause briefly, and lower under control before racking the bar.
Common mistakes
- Bouncing through the reps instead of pausing at the top and bottom.
- Using a half range of motion with too much weight.
