Cycling outdoors
Endurance riding on the road or a cycle path at a steady effort.
- Muscle group: Cardio
- Equipment: Bodyweight
- Difficulty: Beginner
Also known as: Road cycling, Outdoor cycling, Bike ride, Landevejscykling, Cykeltur, Racercykel
How to do it
- Check your tyres and brakes, wear a helmet and set the saddle so your knee is slightly bent at the bottom of the stroke.
- Ride at a steady effort where you can still talk, shifting gears to keep a smooth, easy pedalling rhythm.
- Stay aware of traffic, drink regularly on longer rides and finish with a few easy minutes.
Common mistakes
- Riding in too hard a gear, which loads the knees and tires you early.
- Not wearing a helmet or lights, or not drinking enough on longer rides.
