Push press
An overhead press that uses a small leg dip and drive to move heavier weight.
- Muscle group: Shoulders
- Equipment: Barbell
- Difficulty: Intermediate
Also known as: Barbell push press, Leg-drive overhead press, Skulderpres med benafsæt, Pres med benhjælp
How to do it
- Hold the bar at your collarbones with elbows slightly forward and your core braced.
- Dip a few centimetres at the knees, then drive up through your legs and press the bar overhead.
- Lock out with the bar over your mid-foot, then lower it back to your shoulders under control.
Common mistakes
- Dipping too deep so the move becomes a squat.
- Leaning back and arching the lower back to finish the press; use a lighter load and stay ribs-down.
