High knees
Fast running in place with the knees driven up toward hip height.
- Muscle group: Cardio
- Equipment: Bodyweight
- Difficulty: Beginner
Also known as: High knee run, Running in place, Knee drives, Høje knæløft, Løb på stedet
How to do it
- Stand tall with feet hip-width apart and arms bent at your sides.
- Run in place, lifting each knee to about hip height while swinging the opposite arm.
- Land softly on the balls of your feet and keep a quick, steady rhythm.
Common mistakes
- Leaning back, which strains the lower back and shortens the knee lift.
- Landing heavily on stiff legs instead of staying light on the feet.
