Wide push-up
A push-up with the hands wider than the shoulders to emphasise the chest.
- Muscle group: Chest
- Equipment: Bodyweight
- Difficulty: Intermediate
Also known as: Wide-grip push-up, Wide hand push-up, Armbøjning med brede hænder, Bred armbøjning bryst
How to do it
- Place your hands clearly wider than your shoulders with a straight line from head to heels.
- Lower your chest toward the floor with the elbows angled slightly back rather than flared fully out.
- Press the floor away until your arms are straight.
Common mistakes
- Flaring the elbows straight out to the sides, which stresses the shoulders.
- Sagging hips or a head that drops toward the floor first.
