Smith machine split squat
A single-leg squat with the bar guided for extra stability while you load the front leg.
- Muscle group: Legs
- Equipment: Smith machine
- Difficulty: Intermediate
Also known as: Smith machine lunge, Smith split squat, Smith machine Bulgarian split squat, Udfald i multipres
How to do it
- Set the bar at shoulder height, step under it, and take a staggered stance with the front foot well ahead of the bar.
- Unhook the bar, keep your torso upright, and lower your back knee toward the floor.
- Press through the front foot to stand, finish all reps, then switch legs and rack the bar.
Common mistakes
- Front foot too close to the bar, which pushes the knee far over the toes.
- Leaning forward and dropping the torso instead of staying tall.
