Step onto a box or bench one leg at a time; easy to scale and kind to the balance.

How to do it
- Stand facing a stable bench or box with dumbbells at your sides.
- Place your whole foot on the box and drive through that heel to stand up.
- Step down slowly with the same leg leading, then switch sides.
Common mistakes
- Pushing off the back foot instead of the working leg.
- Using a surface that is too high or unstable.
