Dumbbell upright row
Pull dumbbells up along your body to train the side shoulders and upper traps.

How to do it
- Stand tall holding dumbbells in front of your thighs with palms facing you.
- Lead with your elbows and pull the weights up to about chest height.
- Lower under control; stop earlier if you feel any pinching in the shoulder.
Common mistakes
- Pulling the elbows far above shoulder height, which can irritate the shoulder.
- Swinging the body to heave the weights up.
