Cable upright row
A shoulder and upper-trap pull that keeps constant tension from the cable.

How to do it
- Stand close to a low cable with a straight bar or rope held at hip height, hands about shoulder-width apart.
- Lead with your elbows and pull the handle up along your body to about chest height.
- Lower slowly until your arms are straight again without leaning back.
Common mistakes
- Pulling the handle above chest height, which can pinch the shoulders.
- Swinging the body to get the weight up.
