Belt squat
A squat loaded through a hip belt, training the legs without any weight on the spine.
- Muscle group: Legs
- Equipment: Machine
- Difficulty: Intermediate
Also known as: Belt squat machine, Hammer Strength belt squat, Hanging belt squat, Squat med bælte
How to do it
- Fasten the belt snugly around your hips, step onto the platform, and stand tall with feet shoulder-width apart.
- Release the safeties and squat down with control, keeping your chest up and knees tracking over the toes.
- Drive through your whole foot to stand up, and re-engage the safeties when finished.
Common mistakes
- A loose belt that slides and pinches instead of sitting securely on the hips.
- Leaning forward or rounding the back as you reach the bottom.
