Barbell thruster
A front squat flowing straight into an overhead press.
- Muscle group: Full body
- Equipment: Barbell
- Difficulty: Intermediate
Also known as: Thruster, Front squat to press, Barbell squat press, Thruster med vægtstang, Squat til skulderpres
How to do it
- Hold the bar on your front shoulders with elbows forward and squat down to a depth you can control.
- Drive up out of the squat and use that momentum to press the bar overhead.
- Lower the bar back to your shoulders as you sink into the next squat.
Common mistakes
- Dropping the elbows so the bar rolls forward off the shoulders.
- Pressing before the legs have finished driving, which loses the momentum.
