Side plank
A sideways hold that trains the obliques and the muscles that stabilise the hips; start on your knees if needed.

How to do it
- Lie on your side with the elbow under the shoulder and legs stacked.
- Lift the hips so the body forms a straight line from head to feet.
- Hold while breathing steadily, then switch sides.
Common mistakes
- Hips sagging toward the floor.
- Rolling the chest forward or backward.
