Assisted pull-up
A pull-up with a machine (or band) taking part of your bodyweight. The logged load is the assistance: less assistance means progress.
- Muscle group: Back
- Equipment: Machine
- Difficulty: Beginner
Also known as: Assisted pull-up machine, Machine-assisted pull-up, Band-assisted pull-up, Assisteret pull-up
How to do it
- Choose an assistance level that lets you do the reps with control and kneel or stand on the platform.
- Grip the bar slightly wider than shoulders and start from straight arms.
- Pull your chest toward the bar by driving the elbows down, then lower slowly.
Common mistakes
- Picking so much assistance that the platform does the work.
- Stopping halfway down instead of returning to straight arms.
